DOOR #1
I was fortunate in 2005 to be chosen as an artist in residence in Balatonfured, Hungary. What most inspired me during my residency was the architecture. I lived in a guest house named Floras Fogado, which had wonderful old doors and windows and I took lots of photos of them for future fiber art renderings. The wonderful textures and almost musical handle on this door begged to be interpreted into fiber and the hand-marbled silk dupioni fabric, along with some decorator fabrics and fabric paints, seemed perfectly suited for this homage to a door which I imagine has quite a history. Painted and stitched silk and other fabrics. Ready to hang with a sleeve and wooden slat. Hang away from direct sunlight or bright interior lights.
