CHRISTO'S UMBRELLAS - OCTOBER 1991
In early October 1991, I experienced Christo’s Umbrella Project in California. Christo had intended for the huge, bright yellow umbrellas to be a striking contrast to the brown hills of the area in the Fall, which they were. As I was enjoying this beauty, I was also impressed by the design possibilities of one umbrella which had been installed at the bank of a small stream. The reflection was serene and this was one of the few places where there was any greenery as a contrast to the yellow.
Painted, collaged, and stitched fabric.
Ready to hang with a sleeve and wooden slat. Hang away from direct sunlight or bright interior lights.
